Mental Health First Aid E-Learning

What is covered?

​

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wide range of Mental Health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers.

 

They will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. Learners will learn about the Mental Health first aid action plan, be able to put it in place and understand how to implement a positive Mental Health culture in the workplace or/and in a personal setting.

 

Learners will not diagnose or treat Mental Health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.

• What is Mental Health First Aid?

• Identifying Mental Health conditions

• Providing advice and starting a conversation

• Drugs & alcohol

• Mental Health First Aid action plan

• Mental Health First Aid in the workplace

• Specific time dedicated to understanding a range of conditions including PTSD, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Suicide, Self-Harm, Depression, Psychosis, Bipolar, Schizophrenia & Stress

 

How does it all work?

Our Mental Health First Aid course is delivered via distance learning on our training platform and includes:

 

• All course material (full audio narration throughout from Scott Newby)

• Mental Health First Aid 96-page handbook

• 1-1 private assessment carried out via video call

• Qualification certificate

• Course is regulated by SQA/Ofqual.
