Online First Aid for Mental Health Courses

We are pleased to offer our First Aid for Mental Health courses online (for individuals or organisations). All of the following courses are regulated by First Aid Awards, delivered by qualified trainers and include a certification of qualification, accredited by SQA (in Scotland) or Ofqual (rest of UK).  

Courses can be booked online below using debit/credit card (via PayPal) or by PayPal. We will then contact you to arrange a suitable date/time for your tuition and assessment. The learner will need access to a computer with a reasonable internet connection in order to access the distance learning resources and communicate with the Trainer/Assessor.

 

 

 

 

 

Which course is for me?

There are 3 levels which each build on the next. The courses do no have to be completed in order i.e. you can complete Level 3 without having completed Levels 1 and 2.

 

Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health 

Course Content

  • What is first aid for mental health?

  • Identifying mental health conditions

  • Providing advice and starting a conversation

  • Stress

  • Mental health conditions

Course Duration

Total qualification time is ​5 hours​ of learning. Distance learning (online) - includes 2 hours of trainer-led assigned group learning via Zoom (2 x 1-hour sessions) and a 30-minute individual discussion and assessment with your trainer.  The remaining time is based on individual study using the materials provided. The trainer will be available via email to answer any questions throughout the course duration. 

Materials

Resources provided including a 96-page First Aid for Mental Health Manual, PowerPoint presentations and video Links. A qualification certificate is provided on successful completion of the course. For online training, these materials will be sent by email/post in advance.

Who is the course for?

For anyone with an interest in mental health and a desire to help others by having the knowledge to recognise suspected mental health conditions and be able to start a conversation with someone.

The trainer will be available via email to answer any questions throughout the course duration.

Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health 

Course Content

  • What is first aid for mental health?

  • Identifying mental health conditions

  • Providing advice and starting a conversation

  • Drugs & alcohol

  • First aid for mental health action plan

  • First aid for mental health in the workplace

  • Specific time dedicated to understanding a range of conditions including PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, suicide, self-harm, depression, psychosis, bipolar, schizophrenia & stress

Course Duration

Total qualification time is ​14 hours​ of learning. Distance learning (online) - includes 6 hours of trainer-led assigned group learning via Zoom (3 x 2-hour sessions) and a 45-minute individual discussion and assessment with your trainer.  The remaining time is based on individual study using the materials provided. The trainer will be available via email to answer any questions throughout the course duration.

Materials

Resources provided including a 96-page First Aid for Mental Health Manual, PowerPoint presentations and video Links. A qualification certificate is provided on successful completion of the course. For online training, these materials will be sent by email/post in advance.
