Scott Newby - Managing Director

NewbyCore Consulting Limited was founded in 2017 by Scott Newby. After graduating with a Masters degree in Business Management from Heriot-Watt University in 2003, Scott has since gained over 12 years experience of working for the UK’s biggest financial services company, Lloyds Banking Group, in a variety of managerial and senior roles.

Originally employed by Bank of Scotland, Scott played an integral role in ensuring one of the company’s key divisions was successfully merged with Lloyds Bank. An advocate of personal development, Scott was part of a select group of managers enrolled on to a leadership programme, devised to support the senior leaders and directors of the future.

In more recent times, Scott has held senior leadership positions within Scottish Widows, responsible for over 100 colleagues. It is here that Scott really honed his skills and found his niche as an outstanding leader, coach and mentor; creating a department which was both high performing for the business and a great place to work and progress for colleagues.

Scott has a wealth of experience and qualifications in relation to Mental Health, training delivery and resource development. Over the last four years, Scott has specialised in working with organisations in relation to organisational culture and mental health at work. A significant part of this activity is in relation to creating training resources and materials which are of a very high standard and also fit for purpose, both in its content and to meet the requirements of the client. This work has included delivery of training sessions in person, via video technology and through distance learning, online. Scott has delivered training to the public sector, third sector and commercial sector; producing and leading on sessions to individuals and teams.

Scott specialises in mental health training for organisations, including regulated training in First Aid for Mental Health. Over the last two years, Scott has worked with multiple individuals and organisations, delivering First Aid for Mental Health training to hundreds of colleagues. In addition to this, Scott has also created and delivered bespoke training courses on Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management to hundreds of other colleagues. Scott believes in the importance of providing Mental Health training for all colleagues, and has also started to work with other trainers and colleagues to help support and educate them to be able to deliver training in Mental Health to their teams.

Scott’s passion for mental health has led him to undertaking a postgraduate degree in psychology, which will help further support his customers. In particular, Scott has a keen interest in psychotherapy, coaching psychology and organisational psychology.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Scott has specialised in creating high quality interactive training which can be accessed online. This tutor-led online training has been accessed by hundreds of individuals across a range of organisations, with the feedback consistently being exceptional. These sessions are regularly reviewed and amended with new information as part of the quality control process. This production of online Mental Health training materials has also been created bespoke for some organisations, including the capability to dual brand the online materials for delivery to their colleagues.

Scott also enjoys talking! And has delivered many talks and interviews both in person and via webinars. Scott is also a keen podcaster, both as a host and a guest and is currently working on his latest podcast project which is due to go live soon…watch this space!

Scott has the following relevant qualifications to complement his experience:

●       MA (Hons) Degree in Business Management

●       Level 3 Award in Education & Training (RQF)

●       Instructor Certificate in First Aid for Mental Health

●       MSc Postgraduate Degree in Psychology (*in progress)

Scott has great versatility and can transfer his skills across all sectors. He is the founder of Edinburgh United Vale Football Club, as well as the team manager, a position he has held for most of the last 12 years.

Last but not least, Scott is a family man. He is married with two young children, so when not working he is kept very busy!
